I think this photo greatly resembles life at southwestern because theres always someone messing around or doing something different at our school in the hallways, just the moments arent always captured. in this street photo completely random things are going on and so would it happen at southwestern.

1] what specifically is the purpose of heisler's photographs? is it simply vanity-driven or does it perform a deeper function?
I belive that heisler's photos perform a deeper function by showing what the person in the photograph is known for, what they're perfession is, or how they act as a person.

2] as many of heisler's photos are made for specific stories or magazine covers they have a specific look, but are they fundementally different from gordon parks' "american gothic"?
I think the point that heiser makes in many of his photos relates with goron parks "american gothic" in all the reasons of the deeper function, the photos show a meaning behind the person more then an "oooohh-aaahhh" of the looks of a photograph.

3] pick the portrait of the actor hugh grant from the prophoto.com website and critique it for content, purpose, and effectiveness.

American Gothic

A: An older black woman having a mop and broom proped up standing in front of a flag.
2] what the photo looks like its saying to you [your initial analysis]
A:Even tho living in the united states, life wasnt as easy as people were to say it is.
3] comparisons and contrasts to grant wood's "american gothic"
A: both plain, both show an object proped up, shows life in the united states but with different people, yet not so easy for either.
4] what you think the the photograph really means [your interpretation]
A: life in the united states is not as easy or perfect as it seems.
5] whether or not you think that it is successful photograph
A: yes, this photograph shows so many things of truth about the united states with just one photograph

for one of the photographs i plan on taking a photo of a mother doing busy work at home with her children behind her, most likely my mom or my boyfriends mom
the second photo ill take a picture of one of the teachers at our school standing infront of their class unless i change any ideas while i have the camera in my hand.

I don't enjoy this picture of a car crash in a sick way but how it shows what people really don't see all the time. Of course people hear of car crashes but they don't see how the up close real and gory. Not only is the photographer giving the viewers what they don't see every day but giving a warning to be safe with; for example, wearing your seatbelts, not drinking and driving or just typically being safe when you drive. I like to see the strange and different views of others for example in this photo(s).
